COPE’s goal is to start a cageless no-kill shelter for cats in the Will/Grundy area, and then to continue with a Shelter for dogs and a Sanctuary to help all animals.
COPE ‘s fundraising drive for the proposed shelter began with a generous donation of $25,000 and a 50% matching grant agreement (up to $100,000) from an anonymous donor, in memory of his wife Cherie, who was an avid cat lover and had the dream for a shelter along with COPE co-founder Lois.
Fundraisers for the future shelter have been happening for two years, including the mum sales, garage sales, poker runs, pet magnet sales, raffles, and more. Many donations have also been made.
Corporate and foundation grants, individual donations and gifts of land are sought and gratefully accepted. All donations are tax deductible and checks can be mailed to COPE RESCUE, P.O.
