IN MEMORY OF PEGGY STEINHOUSE
Long-time COPE member Peggy Steinhouse passed away peacefully at home on November 19, 2008 after returning home from an operation at Loyola. Her passing was a great loss to everyone, especially the many animals in her life.
Peggy was very involved with COPE and participated in all of our activities as well as taking care of the cats at PetCo. She rescued and fostered many cats for COPE, provided a home for FIV+ cats, and socialized feral cats prior to adoption. Peggy was a docent for 20 years at the Brookfield Zoo where she brought many items for the gorillas and other animals to play with. She volunteered at the Will County Humane Society, and was also involved Bluebirds at the Morton Arboretum. She fostered a turkey from Farm Sanctuary in California.
Not only did she foster cats, but she also had cats of her own who were very special in her life. She was laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery after a moving service. We will miss you, Peggy. Thank you for being you.
